Domaine
des Seresnes
Jacques
Renaudat is the father of Vâlery who established his own domaine in 1999,
although he continues to vinify his Reuilly here at Seresnes. His younger
son, Gaylord, now works at a cellar in the Côtes du Provence after
spending four years in Australia and is more likely to become the
successor here. The Renaudat’s are an old Berrichone family, with
Jacques father buying this isolated 150 hectare cereal farm, close to the
village of Diou in 1942. The first wine produced here was in the converted
13th Century chapel in 1960. Jacques first vintage was in 1973.
There are a total of seven hectares of vines planted over two separate
parcels, both planted on calcaire
lacustre soils, close to Diou. The lead variety, with 4.40ha planted
is Pinot Gris, with equal proportions of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon making
up the balance. Jacques is one of several growers in the region who
chooses to hand harvest his Pinot Noir.
The wines, all tasted in bottle from the 2009 vintage (in June 2010) were
all perfectly decent with the Pinot Gris being the most interesting of the
trio.
