Profiles
Jean-Claude
Roux
Until 1995
the softly-spoken, silver-haired Jean-Claude Roux was a cereal farmer with
land on the plains near Arçay, some 30 kilometres south of the
appellation. After buying 5.2 hectares of Sauvignon in the appellation, he
became a member of the Cave de Romane and his wines are now vinified at
the Maison Blanche cellar in Quincy where he makes decent, honest and
authentic Quincy.
Together with his son, the Rouxs have just expanded their interests, from
the 2010 vintage, in Châteaumeillant, where they have bought into the
vineyards and cellar of Fabien
Geoffrenet.
